The Florida Live Oak 1850s Tiny Trade Knife #474 is a compact 7 3/4-inch knife inspired by mid-19th-century trade knives. In the 1800s, knives of this style were used as patch knives, as well as for kitchen preparation and other tasks requiring a small, versatile cutting tool.  Weighing just 2.5 ounces, this lightweight blade offers practical versatility for both kitchen preparation and camp use.

The 3 1/2-inch clip-point blade with half-tang construction is forged from 3/32-inch 1095 high carbon steel and finished with an antiqued patina that gives the knife a timeless, well-traveled appearance. Its compact size makes it a practical companion for slicing vegetables, trimming meats, preparing food at camp, and handling other light camp chores.

The handle is crafted from stabilized Florida Live Oak, featuring a dark, natural wood grain secured with three peened mild steel pins. Its half-tang construction reflects the traditional design of trade-knife-inspired patterns, while the stabilized wood and carefully finished blade bring modern craftsmanship to a historically inspired design.

Part of our Florida Woods Series, this knife celebrates the native Florida timbers Greg hand-harvests and transforms into distinctive knife handles. Versatile and rich in character, the Live Oak Tiny Trade Knife brings together traditional styling and practical utility.

Optional Handcrafted Leather Sheath

Protect your Live Oak Tiny Trade Knife with an optional handcrafted pouch-style sheath made from vegetable-tanned leather. Becky cuts and stitches each sheath by hand using durable linen thread, then burnishes the edges and treats the leather with hot beeswax for water resistance.

Choose traditional oak bark dye for a warm brown finish or vinegaroon for a deep black. These handcrafted leather treatments reflect time-honored techniques and complement the knife’s historical inspiration.
