Handcrafted by GreBec Knives, the Live Oak English Trade Knife #414 is a versatile kitchen and utility knife inspired by 18th-century English trade knives—rugged, reliable tools that served early American households, fur traders, and frontiersmen.Part of our Florida Wood Series, this knife features sustainably sourced, stabilized Florida Live Oak from a storm-downed tree near our home. This exceptionally hard wood was carefully dried and stabilized to ensure long-term durability, stability, and natural beauty. Home cooks and market shoppers love these knives—they sell out fast at every display thanks to its heirloom quality, low-maintenance appeal over raw woods, and razor-sharp edge holding through heavy prep sessions
Measuring 10 1/4″ overall with a 5 7/8″ trailing-point blade, the Live Oak Trade Knife excels at slicing vegetables, carving meats, and everyday prep. Its finely honed convex grind delivers excellent edge retention and effortless cutting. The full-tang blade is crafted from 1095 high-carbon steel and finished with an antiqued patina that develops character over time while offering added corrosion resistance.
The handle showcases striking figured grain in deep brown tones, accented by natural variation that makes each knife truly one of a kind. Secured with mild steel pins, the stabilized Live Oak provides exceptional density, hardness, and rot resistance, making it well suited for lifelong use in the kitchen. These knives are a favorite with home cooks and market shoppers alike and routinely sell out thanks to their heirloom quality, low-maintenance appeal, and dependable cutting performance.
