The Pecan Tiny Trade Knife #387 is a compact 7¼” knife designed for culinary precision and camp versatility. Inspired by mid-19th-century trade knives, it weighs only 2.6 oz yet delivers dependable performance. The 3⅜” clip-point blade is crafted from 3/32″ 1095 high-carbon steel and finished with an antiqued patina for a timeless, heritage look. Its single-bevel grind gives it the same razor-sharp cutting performance found on Greg’s full-size trade knives, making it surprisingly capable for its size.  Thanks to its balanced design, it performs beautifully whether you’re slicing vegetables, trimming meats, or tackling light camp chores. This knife honors history while offering modern durability.
The bookend matched handle, crafted from stabilized Florida Pecan, showcases striking natural contrast. Three peened mild-steel pins secure the scales, while the full-tang construction adds strength you can trust. As a result, the knife feels at home whether you’re dicing herbs in the kitchen or carving by the fire. It blends traditional craftsmanship with practical upgrades, making it a go-to tool for chefs, campers, collectors, and anyone who values a lightweight, dependable blade.

Optional Handcrafted Leather Sheath

Protect your Pecan Tiny Trade Knife with a custom pouch-style sheath, hand-cut from veg-tanned leather and dyed with Greg’s shop-brewed vinegaroon dye for a deep black finish. Becky stitches each sheath by hand with durable linen thread—a period-correct choice that has stood the test of time. She burnishes the edges smooth and finishes the leather with beeswax for lasting water resistance. These steps echo 19th-century techniques while ensuring your sheath will hold up through years of daily use. Learn more in our Historic Leather Dyes blog series.

Care & Maintenance

These blades are forged from high-carbon steel, not stainless. High-carbon steel will rust if left wet, but the antiqued patina provides protection that deepens with age. To keep the knives performing beautifully:

  • Hand-wash promptly after each use and dry completely.
  • Apply a light coat of food-safe oil or our recommended Wiseman Axe & Knife Wax for extra protection.
  • Store the knife in a dry environment.
