A Gift That Launched a Legacy

Our Florida Wood Series began with a friend’s heartfelt vision: custom Christmas knives for his children, made with wood from their home state. When the planned wood didn’t arrive, we turned to the sturdy Live Oak, native to Putnam County where his children were raised, even though they’ve since moved away. Greg electrochemically etched Florida’s outline onto each blade, creating keepsakes that celebrate Sunshine State roots and our deep connection to this land. That moment sparked our Florida Wood Series, a cornerstone of our craft.

For instance, every knife in this series now proudly bears the Florida state logo, marking its tie to our local woods. As a result, knife enthusiasts collect these blades for their authenticity and connection to Florida’s natural heritage.

Unique Florida Woods, Crafted with Care

Greg harvests woods like Southern Magnolia, Crepe Myrtle, Live Oak, Red Cedar, and Pecan from Florida’s landscapes. Unlike most knife makers, we use these unique Florida natives—Southern Magnolia, for example, is nearly unheard of in custom knives! We source our woods for sustainably, using only storm-felled, diseased, or safety-removed trees, or those gifted by local customers. We never cut healthy trees. In our Pomona Park workshop, Greg cuts, dries, and stabilizes each piece by hand, ensuring stunning grain and lasting durability. Meanwhile, Becky hand-stitches veg-tanned leather sheaths to complement each blade’s beauty. Visit our Shop to explore knives perfect for hunters, campers, or collectors.

Why Our Florida Wood Knives Stand Out

At the DeLand Artisans Market, our Florida Wood Series knives shine, accounting for 90% of our sales. We’re just starting at the Ocala Downtown Market in July, 2025. It will be interesting to see if the sales are the same. Greg’s stories about each wood’s origin—for example, a favored Wild Plum killed by ants—captivate buyers. Every detail reflects our love for craftsmanship and America. We craft these knives using products made in the USA, from high carbon steel to epoxy and local woods. Plus, each Florida Series knife comes with a custom business card featuring a photo of your blade and its specs, making it a cherished collectible.

In short, our knives embody Florida’s wild spirit. Explore our Shop, filter for “Florida Woods,” and find a blade that tells a piece of our state’s story. Or, join us at the DeLand Artisans Market—check our schedule on our Home page.
