Discover the Spalted Pecan Trade Knife #404 — a handcrafted knife that blends the heritage of 18th-century English trade knives with the performance expected in a modern kitchen. Part of Greg’s Florida Wood Series, this knife is built to be used, admired, and eventually passed down.
At its heart is a 5 15/16″ trailing point blade forged from 3/32″ 1095 high-carbon steel. Finished with an antiqued patina and a finely honed convex grind, the blade delivers excellent edge retention, easy sharpening, and precise cutting. Light in the hand at just 4.15 oz, it excels at slicing vegetables, trimming meats, and tackling everyday kitchen or camp tasks with ease.
What truly sets this knife apart is its stabilized Florida spalted pecan handle. The dramatic figuring and natural spalting create flowing lines of color and contrast that make this knife unmistakably one of a kind. No two pieces of spalted pecan are ever alike, and this handle showcases the wood at its best—both visually striking and strengthened through stabilization for long-term durability. Secured with mild steel pins, it offers a comfortable, confident grip suited for daily use.

  • Vinegaroon Black – a deep, iron-black tone created with Greg’s in-house dye
