The Spalted Pecan Trade Knife #404: A Modern Knife with Historic Roots
In colonial times, English trade knives were once indispensable household tools—valued for their versatility, ‘sticky sharp edge’, toughness, and simplicity. This knife carries that tradition forward, honoring the past while meeting the needs of today’s cooks and outdoorsmen. It’s a working knife with historic roots, built for families who appreciate quality materials and heirloom craftsmanship.
These knives are consistently popular at market and often sell quickly—a reflection of their usefulness, balance, and timeless appeal.
Optional Handcrafted Leather Sheath
Each sheath is cut from veg-tanned leather, dyed using homemade dyes brewed in Greg’s shop, then hand-stitched with heavy linen thread and sealed with beeswax for water resistance.. Choose between two historic dye finishes:
- Vinegaroon Black – a deep, iron-black tone created with Greg’s in-house dye
- Oak Bark Brown – a warm, earthy brown brewed from oak bark extract
