Every so often when I am cutting up a log, looking for the right piece to make knife handles, I am reminded why I go through the hassle. This particular knife is one of those reasons. The handle material for this knife is a piece of Bur Oak https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/ST551 that one of my neighbors had to cut down. When I saw this massive old oak tree being brought down I had to ask for a few chunks of it. Well, I got 3 pieces that were about 3ft in diameter and 4ft long. It took a while before it was dry enough to start cutting up into usable pieces but OH MAN! some of it has been well worth it. Once it was dry enough I cut a few 2 1/2" x 1 1/4' x 6" pieces which I then dehydrated and stabilized. A few of these usable pieces look like they are spalted, and I love spalted wood. https://berkshireproducts.com/articles/what-is-spalted-wood-and-what-makes-it-so-special/ This beautiful EDC is razor sharp and has a very robust blade so you can use it for some pretty heavy duty cutting. It will be a happy little knife while cutting your steak at your favorite restaurant, shaving a branch for kindling, or as a hunting/camp/trail knife. I figure this bodacious knife wont last long so if you're interested you should jump on it. Spec's are listed below.
